La Pastora Washed - Costa Rica
Sweet and Chocolaty Seasonal Feature Medium-Light Roast
About the Coffee
This Seasonal Feature Medium-Light Roast coffee is a washed specialty from Tarrazú, Costa Rica. It delivers a smooth and balanced cup with hints of milk chocolate, nougat, and a delicately sweet orange pekoe finish. The high-altitude region and ideal climate allow the coffee cherries to mature slowly, producing dense beans classified as Strictly Hard Bean (SHB), renowned for their exceptional quality, consistency, and flavor. Tarrazú coffees have earned recognition in multiple international barista and cupping competitions.
Established in 1960, the cooperative CoopeTarrazú supports over 5,000 local coffee farmers. Originally, farmers had limited access to wet mills, and low knowledge of coffee production resulted in lower yields. Today, CoopeTarrazú provides training programs, farm engineering visits, and eco-friendly initiatives including recycling, renewable energy use, and water conservation. The cooperative focuses on both producing high-quality coffee and supporting social and environmental development in the region, ensuring the community and the land thrive together.

Coffee Origin
Costa Rica – Tarrazú
Costa Rica has eight coffee-growing regions, with Tarrazú being the most famous. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Cordillera Central mountains to the east, the region features lush vegetation, high altitudes, and a unique sedimentary soil composition that enhances smoothness and fine acidity. The nearby Pirrís River provides fresh water, creating ideal conditions for high-quality Arabica coffee cultivation.
Roast Level
Medium-Light Roast
This Medium-Light Roast develops slightly longer, reducing acidity while preserving delicate flavors. It delivers balanced brightness, subtle sweetness, and complexity, offering more body than light roasts while highlighting the unique characteristics of Tarrazú coffee.
