The Cup
This is a Red Bourbon microlot coffee from the Twongerekawa Coko coop located in the Gakenke District of Rwanda. Flavour highlights include hibiscus, blood orange, and dark chocolate. This is a delicious full cup complimented with a great balance between rich syrupy chocolate notes and bright aromatics of hibiscus and hints of blood orange. This is a very versatile coffee in its use. From drip to Espresso this coffee performs exceptionally.
About the Producer
Founded in 2009, the Twongerekawa Coko cooperative is made up of 204 members,169 of whom are women. It is located in the Coko sector of Rwanda’s Gakenke District in Northern Province.
Twongerekawa Coko originated from an initiative by coffee experts and large-scale farmers dedicated to producing high-quality coffee from farms situated on Rwanda’s hillsides. The cooperative focuses on targeted farming activities aimed at maximizing production and is led by female president Therese Nyrangwabije. Members of the cooperative benefit from training in best agricultural practices and professional coffee washing station processing techniques, all aimed at ensuring the best possible returns for farmers. Overall, Twongerekawa Coko is dedicated to the development of its members and the community at large, primarily through the cultivation of coffee crops, with a focus on enhancing both quality and quantity of production.
