What our customers are saying
Solid coffee roaster. Decent pricing on bulk beans. Knowledgeable and precise staff, some stouffville accent, but still pretty understandable ;-). Very nice selection, good info on beans on website and they ship. What more could I ask for?
Best Americano ! Brewed with signature velvet sunrise beans ☕️ ❣️I’ve been smelling this coffee place for years and never realized what a gem it is ! Friendly staff, lovely ambiance, and after one sip I knew this was the best brew and beans 🫘 ever !!!
Were staying with friends in Gormely & googled “coffee roasters”. This one came up as close so my wife & I went there. What a great surprise. They were so friendly and the coffee they had was roasted superbly by type-not a general roasting for all types. They gave us a tour of the roasting area and we had some coffee-pour over is always best. It was brewed perfectly. Also purchased some single origin coffees from Kenya & Ethiopia. Looking forward to trying them when we return home. Definitely will return when in the area
The best coffee we ever tried. We used to live in Stouffville for 12 years and after many tries to buy a coffee literally everywhere Velvet Sunrise became our only choice. And even after we moved to Atlantic Canada we’re still with you 🙂 Thank you!
I’ve been coming here for years and the quality of coffee and service has never changed. This place is tucked away in the corner which makes it feel all the more special and secret. I normally grab an oat latte or vanilla oat latte. We also purchase their coffee beans and velvet hot chocolate. No gate keeping here! I will forever be a loyal customer.
Someone on Reddit told us to check this place out for the best decaf beans in the GTA, so while standing in the coffee aisle at Whole Foods in Markham, we put the beans down and headed up to Stouffville just in time before they closed. We were already too caffeinated to grab a drink this time, but we picked up a bag to enjoy evening coffees while visiting family for a month. I’ve been brewing it in a MokaPot and got it dialed in for lovely decaf cappuccinos. Tastes like hot chocolate with caramel sauce. Super smooth, clear flavor true to the tasting notes, no bitterness at all. None of the weak flavorlessness of grocery store decaf beans. Can’t wait to come back and try their drinks too next time!
A true gem in Stoufville. Smooth espresso based drinks and amazing staff. On my last visit I had a properly frothy and milky cappuccino with honey from talented barista Miriam. Bought some Guatemalan beans which I’m excited to try at home. Check them out, without a doubt!
As a home barista I have tried quite a few different roasters in the GTA. Velvet sunrise is a league above all others. Quite honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had. Even when not perfectly dialed in, the coffee is delicious. Highly recommend!!!
Velvet Sunrise Coffee Roasters is a hidden gem for coffee aficionados seeking a quick yet satisfying caffeine fix. Upon entering, I was greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, setting the stage for a delightful experience. The cozy environment provided the perfect backdrop for a moment of relaxation amidst the hustle and bustle of the day. The staff were friendly and efficient, ensuring I got exactly what I needed—a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. Whether you’re in need of a quick pick-me-up or looking to linger and enjoy the ambiance, Velvet Sunrise Coffee Roasters delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended for coffee lovers in search of quality and comfort.

Just top tier coffee

Services was good and prices are also reasonable.

This light roasted I picked up was excellent as well. Will go here again
I purchased three bags of freshly roasted coffee beans, all of which had come out of the roaster only a few days earlier. One of the bags of beans was so freshly prepared, it had been roasted the previous day! They mark the dates of roasting right on the bags, which are packaged nicely and stocked in an organized fashion on a display wall.
I've since gone home and sampled all three of the coffees that I bought; Paubrazil for my regular cups of coffee, plus Steampunk and Solar Eclipse for my espressos. Each turned out to be quality roasts of beans, good and tasty and unmistakably fresh. I'm particularly fond of the Solar Eclipse Espresso, but that's just my taste (which runs a bit toward the dark side). The prices are fair for the quality, the business is rather local, and the coffee is quite delicious. I'll be buying beans from here again, to be sure!
Usually I go there every 1-2 months and pick up a few different ones.
Since switching almost exclusively to this shop a few years ago I can say that the quality has always been consistently high.
They mostly sell to restaurants but whenever I drop by their Stouffville location see other people buying beans there.
It is possible to order from their web site too, or at least check what is available.
You can also get a cup made for you there as they have a professional espresso machine.
Depending on the kind of coffee I sometimes fiddle with how fine or coarse I grind it or try different brewing method.
This coffee should not be mixed with any milk cream or sugar. It is too good for that and as it cools it develops more and more taste notes.
This is a must stop place to visit in Stouffville.

The shop itself has teas, coffee, beans (their own blend, plus "in-season" beans) for sale. As well as coffee brewing gizmos* and all their accessories, and even a home-roaster if you want to roast green coffee beans at home.
