Finca Monteblanco, is a family farm managed by Rodrigo Sanchez Valencia in the tradition of coffee cultivation that began with his grandfather. It’s located high within the mountain roads of Vereda Tocora in the San Adolfo municipality above Pitalito. Monteblanco’s 18 hectares sit on the top of a hill, with the wetmill and drying facilities at the top of the farm and slopes of coffee planted below them.
In the early 2000’s after participating in a local program teaching children of coffee producers to cup, Rodrigo learned to differentiate between profiles. This allowed him, along with his father & grandfather to connect the farming techniques they used with what they tasted in their coffee when they cupped it.
This led to Rodrigo exploring trees planted on Monteblanco, and discovering various varieties his grandfather planted back in the 1980’s. He found trees that were different with broad leaves looking like Geisha. When harvested they also had the similar profile of Geisha. This is how Pink Bourbon began.
